Return to Work 1
As part of a regional Teaching School Hub partnership in the South West, OneCornwall are proud to be supporting The MTPT Project’s Return to Work Workshops throughout the academic year 2024-25.
This 90-minute interactive webinar offers colleagues in the South West the opportunity to prepare logistically and emotionally for a confident return to work following a period of maternity, adoption or shared parental leave.
Ensuring the programme is fully-funded for state school colleagues is just one of the ways that OneCornwall is addressing recommendations in the recent Missing Mothers report by The New Britain Project and The MTPT Project, which found that only 38% of mother-teachers surveyed were satisfied with the maternity leave and transition support provided by their school.
Mary Goldsmith, a senior leader in Wiltshire attended a Return to Work workshop in the winter of 2024. She enjoyed the sense of community that the workshops offered and felt reassured “knowing lots of people are going through the same challenges.”
Mary found that the workshop left her feeling more informed about her legal entitlements, and improved her understanding of what discrimination could look like and how to address this with confidence.

Lydia Vowden, a middle leader based in Exmouth attended a Return to Work workshop in the winter of 2024. She said the workshop was “inclusive” and made her “feel understood”, adding that she was able to add positive role models to her personal and online community as a result of the event.
Lydia left the workshop with greater clarity around her boundaries, ready to plan KIT day opportunities to support her in her return.
