A free one-day conference to support the transition from ITT into a first teaching post.

A free one-day conference aimed at supporting the transition from ITT to ECT. Exclusive to all ITT in Cornwall and is supported by the Cornwall ITT network.

What can I expect?

You can expect to come away energised and ready to go, equipped with some top advice from education experts from across the region and nationally.

Our keynote speaker is Marc Rowland.

Marc is the adviser for improving outcomes for disadvantaged learners for the Unity Schools Partnership, a large cross-phase Multi Academy Trust based in the East of England. A former EEF Research School lead, Marc works with the Education Endowment Foundation’s national Research School Network on a range of programmes across the country, from Cornwall to North Yorkshire.

Marc works with, and advises the Department for Education (England) on addressing educational disadvantage in schools. He has worked with over 850 individual schools and a range of multi-academy trusts across the country, to support them with their strategies to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.

At the conference....

Marc will focus on 'A Class of My Own' and how, by focussing on the basics of high-quality T&L in your first few weeks of term will build your confidence.

An Introduction to the Early Career Framework

Your second session will focus on bridging the gap from ITT to ECT, to ensure that you are ready for your first week and beyond in the classroom and understand the support and development that you will receive through the ECF programme.

Our afternoon programme...

The afternoon gives you an opportunity to select from a range of workshops, which will be delivered by expertise from across our schools, sharing their 'top tips' for making your first year a success, including an opportunity for Q&A with current ECTs in years 1 & 2 of the ECF.

To give you an idea of what the programme will offer, here is a peak at the 2023 conference programme.
