‘Education Talks’.

OneCornwall Teaching School Hub is proud to work with all of our Teacher Training Providers and Early Career Teachers in Cornwall. We are hosting a series of free Education Talk twilight sessions, which will extend your current training, explore educational topics and new thinking.

The sessions are all virtual and take place from 3:45 to 4:45 in the afternoon. The speakers are leaders in their fields and are all based in the South West.

The four sessions are:
  • Understanding and meeting the needs of pupils with SEND.

This session, led by Joe McGovern, the CELT trust SEND lead, explores the significance of good practise and quality teaching. It will examine what quality teaching looks like and give examples of classroom strategies to promote SEND engagement. We are holding two separate sessions looking at Primary and Secondary phases independently. Sign up to learn about how to make the maximum impact on all students in your classroom for September.

Primary: Tuesday 4th June

or

Secondary: Tuesday 11th June

  • Wellbeing: Staff Wellbeing: You Matter Too!

Wednesday 5th June

This session focusses on you, as your health and well-being matters. It’s important that you look after yourself in order to be the best teacher you can be. The session is led by Ian Hunkin, who will give tips, advice and healthy habits on essential maintenance for yourself. Ian is the Director of South Central Teaching School Hub. Previously he has worked as a Headteacher of a large special school, Director of Multi-Agency Services, Teacher Advisor, Educational Psychologist, Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Residential Youth Worker and Security Guard. So you’re in relatively safe hands.

  • Have you considered working in a Faith school?

Wednesday 12th June

This session focusses on working in a Church school. It will look at how Church schools operate and the benefits of being part of the Church school community. If you are employed in a Church school, then this is a must, or if this is an area you know very little about, this is your opportunity to find out more. The session is led by Lee Moscato, who is the Diocesan Director of Education for Cornwall. Lee works with 43 Church schools in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, partnering with all the Trusts in which they sit.
