Get into Teaching, find out more.
“Teachers are the foundation of the education system. There are no great schools without great teachers. The quality of teaching is the single most important in-school factor for improving pupil outcomes — and it is particularly important for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.”
DfE 2021
Initial Teacher Education sits at the heart of the DfE's educational reforms, which see the biggest changes to training & development for teachers in a generation.
To provide trainees and early career teachers with the best possible start to their career, a new ITT core content framework came into effect from September 2020. The ITT core content framework and the Early Career Framework draw upon the best available evidence to establish an entitlement to a three or more year structured package of support for future generations of teachers. The ITT core content framework defines in detail the minimum entitlement for trainee teachers and places a duty on providers of ITT — and their partner schools — to meet this entitlement. Further information on the ITT core content framework can be found on GOV.UK.
