OneCornwall are offering the NPQLPM in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching and the CODE Maths Hub.

Is the NPQLPM for me?

This programme is suitable for:
  • Teachers and leaders with responsibility for leading maths across a primary key-stage or school, or those who want to have this responsibility, who also have a secure level of understanding mastery approaches to teaching primary maths and wish to improve leadership skills in this area.
  • Subject leaders in a school already engaged in the primary teaching for Mastery programme (or similar programme example)
What are the training commitments?

On average, participants will spend between one and two hours a week working towards the NPQLPM. Where possible, study should be done in dedicated career-development time during school hours.

Programme modules
  • Developing Primary Mathematics
  • Teaching
  • School Culture
  • How Pupils Learn
  • Subject and Curriculum
  • Classroom Practice
  • Adaptive Teaching
  • Assessment
  • Professional Development
  • Implementation
How will I be assessed?

In order to receive NPQLPM accreditation, participants will need to complete the programme and achieve a pass mark in a written, ‘open book’ style, structured assessment of up to 1,500 words.

The assessment itself takes place over an eight-day window.

It is important to collect together the information that you will require prior to starting the application form.

Teacher Reference Number (TRN)

In order to apply for an NPQ you will need to have a TRN. If you already have one but have forgotten it, or you do not have a TRN, you will need to contact the DfE for clarification. You are able to request a TRN even if you do not hold QTS. We have attached a guidance sheet below which will take you through this process.
