School Led Induction Programme
The DfE has asked two national providers to publish materials for the School-Led Induction Programme, which are now available for schools to access. It is the responsibility of each school or setting to carefully review and research their options to determine whether this approach is suitable for their context.
Please note that schools choosing to deliver the School-Led Induction Programme must register their ECT(s) with an Appropriate Body (AB). This route requires the AB to carry out significantly more quality assurance and fidelity checks to ensure statutory requirements are met. As a result, it will incur a higher AB charge compared to the Provider-Led Induction Programme.
The AB's responsibilities for schools choosing the School-Led Programme include:
-
Registration of ECTs on the TRA system
-
Fidelity checks before induction begins, confirming that:
-
The ECT is receiving a structured programme of support and training based on the Early Career Framework (ECF)
-
The induction programme is evidence-based and aligned with ECTP content
-
Planned elements of induction have been delivered
-
-
Ongoing quality assurance, including:
-
Visits to verify that materials and delivery align with statutory guidance
-
Review of the school’s detailed programme plan for Years 1 and 2
-
Observations and interviews with the ECT as part of the quality assurance process
-
-
Formal assessment checks, ensuring ECTs are fairly assessed at interim points and at the end of Years 1 and 2
-
Additional monitoring and support for ECTs who may not be meeting the Teachers’ Standards
If you are considering the School-Led Induction route and would like further guidance or clarification, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are happy to support you in choosing the most appropriate induction pathway for your ECTs.
