ECT Registrations for September 2023

The DfE are updating their guidance around the DfE Portal and are making improvements to their systems to ensure improvements in the registration process for the September 2023 cohorts. The DfE will be emailing schools regarding these improvements and updates, along with the steps you need to make to hopefully ensure a smoother registration process.  The DfE Portal will be open to schools from July 3rd for September 2023 ECT registrations.  In the meantime, please continue to let us know at ecf@onecornwall.co.uk of any ECTs you will be employing in September 2023 and we will update you as to the next steps.

New ECTs from September 2023 - Limited places available for the funded Full Induction Programme

As with last year, the number of ECTs we can register on the Full Induction Programme will be capped, so we do recommend that you contact us as soon as you have recruited a new ECT to ensure that we are able to provide them with a place.  Please do get in touch if you require further information about the induction options and let us know if you wish to register with OneCornwall as the Delivery Partner. You can also find more details about the programmes on
our website

Do I need to re-register my existing  ECT?

Schools who have already registered an ECT with us and who are moving into Year 2 of the programme, do not need to re-register them.

If you are recruiting an ECT who has already partially completed their induction period when they join you, please login to register them on the DfE portal and follow the options on the site.

Please contact us if you require support with this.

You can also find further guidance about induction, training and support for Early Career Teachers here -

IMPORTANT Appropriate Body Services

All  ECTs must be registered with an AB. If you employ an Early Career Teacher (ECT) you must ensure that you register them with an Appropriate Body as soon as possible.

It is important to note that:

  • this is completely separate to their ECF programme.
  • you can register for AB services with OneCornwall even if you are completing the ECF with another provider.
  • AB fees will differ depending on the type of ECF programme being undertaken (Full, Core or School led Induction programme).
